Child Safety Training

Child Safety Training

Child Safety Training is a requirement for all youth service organisations in Australia.

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse uncovered shocking abuse of children within institutions throughout Australia. The Commission recommended taking action to make organisations across the country safe for children. The development of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations was a key national reform in response to these recommendations.

The National Principles for Child Safe Organisations have been endorsed through the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) by all Commonwealth, state and territory governments. The principles provide a nationally consistent approach to embedding child safe cultures within organisations that engage with children. They also act as a vehicle to give effect to all Royal Commission recommendations related to child safe standards.

All organisations who work with or support children and young people in Australia should implement theses standards. In some jurisdictions these principles have become law and must be fully implemented, however it is best practice whether it is law or not.

In partnership with ChildSafe Australia the team at Ultimate Youth Worker provides a number of different child safety training options for all levels of your organisation. From volunteers and frontline staff to Human Resources and senior management we have levels of training for all within your organisation.
